* The current population of Argentina is estimated to be around
38 million, of which almost half live in the Federal Capital and
the province of Buenos Aires. 95% of Argentineans are white and
descendants of Europeans; the indigenous populations is only a
5%.

The Spanish is the official language and, although the official
religion is Roman Catholic, there is complete freedom and many
other religions are practiced.
* The official currency is the PESO. Most of hotels, shops and
restaurants accept major credit cards and travelers cheques.

Commercial Times: Banks
and foreign exchange offices are open Monday to Friday from 10:00
a.m to 3.00 p.m Shops: Mondays to Fridays from 9.30 a.m to 7.30
p.m and Saturdays from 9.30 a.m to 1.00 p.m. In some cities shops
close for about two hours at noon. Shops at shopping centres are
normally open every day from 9.30 a.m to 9.00 p.m.
Restaurants: lunch is usually served from 12.00 to 3.00 p.m and
dinner from 8.00 p.m until midnight.

Customs: Passengers arriving in the country
can bring sports, photo and filming equipment, as well as musical
instruments.
